In 1991 David Sinclair graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Performance Degree in Classical Guitar. But Flamenco music is his first love. As David told Harry Currie of "The Record": "...What I liked about Flamenco playing was the improvised aspect of it compared to classical guitar music. Also there is a passion, a strength and an aggressiveness in Flamenco guitar playing, whereas in classical playing there is a subtler, gentler touch..."David spends a great deal of time in Granada, Spain. In this excerpt from an interview with Eric Volmers for "The Cambridge Reporter" he says: "...You have to be one-on-one with a teacher. It's very much an oral tradition... Although it's a traditional music it is still a progressive music..." |
